Back to Santiago

Mission accomplished in Muxia, and not much else going on there, I bussed my way back to Santiago.
Back into the minibus from Muxia to Cee.
Another minibus along the coast to who knows where, we just pull up in a yard "swap to other bus"...
A monster double decker bus, headed to Santiago.
Get to Santiago and take city bus to Placa de Galacia.

Whole journey, €15.50!  That won't get you cross town in the States, and I got a large tour of the Galacian coastline.

Back in Santiago, finally visit the toothpick tapas place I heard so much about...  The word was all good and so want the food!

The rest of the day, just errands and tending to business (like laundry at the pilgrim house).  Speaking of which, time to go retrieve my laundry, dressed in my finest Peregrino clothes
Baselayer pants (might as well call them long underwear)
Shorts
Tech shirt
Fleece jacket
And crocks!
Nothing says Peregrino more then crocks or sandles.
I would feel out of place, but so many others dressed similarly.

A real quiet day.

Ultreia!
Kevin

  1. Yep, you are definitely in Peregrino "wind down" mode - but still relaxing and enjoying the thoughts about your past weeks - like taking in a deep breath and slowly letting it out. Santiago time is like watching everything in a kind of slow motion. If you are looking for a good breakfast place get over to Hotel Residencia Costa Vella - Rua da Porta da Pena 17, (Pension Girasol & Cafe Costa Vella) it has a wonderful glassed in breakfast room overlooking a beautiful garden. Ask if Jose is there - he waited on us. From our journal "We're checking out the menu as Jose returns. As we begin to order he stops us and asks, "Would you like to eat like true Spaniards for breakfast?" Hesitantly curious we respond, "Yes?!" He begins to explain how Spaniards spread this fresh, olive oil infused, seasoned, crushed tomato salsa on their bread. We were sold. It was delicious." Enjoy. Buen Camino, Ross & Kathleen

  2. Sounds like you had quite the ride to Santiago on a few different busses. I am glad to hear that you tried that place with the toothpicks for your tapas. Well, Today is Tuesday and you will be home Thursday. We can't wait for your great big bear hugs. I hope you get a good night's sleep and we will chat tomorrow. Love you, honey.
